Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, (Philippians 1:27 ESV)
As Christians, we are not called to live any other but a life that is worthy of the gospel. You and I need to ask ourselves this question: is my lifestyle worthy of the gospel?
As believers we are to mirror Christ to others in the world. If we claim to be saved by His finished work on the cross, and are part of God’s kingdom where our citizenship is, then our lives should be worthy of the gospel.
Citizens of a country or state live according to the laws of the land. As believers even though we are in the world, we should not be of it. We cannot live the same way as the non-citizen of heaven. The only way to prove our heavenly citizenship in this world is by living a life worthy of the Gospel.
Why is it important to live a life worthy of the gospel?
– That’s when we are able to bear spiritual fruits
– That’s when we display Christ to world
– That’s when God is being glorified in us
For us to be able to stand firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel as Paul said, can only happen if we live a life worthy of the gospel. This is because it is the gospel that unites us to be able to stand firm in spirit and strive together for the faith of the gospel with one mind.
Brethren, it is my prayer we live a life that’s worthy of the gospel. Amen
