Appreciate the Love of God

Appreciate the Love of God
O Christ, our hope, our hearts’ desire, redemption’s only spring. How vast the mercy and the love which laid our sins on thee, for us to be saved. All praise to thee, ascended Lord; all glory ever be to Father, Son and Holy Ghost, through all eternity. We thank God for another day, His amazing Grace and deeper revelation. Today’s message is titled, “Appreciate the Love of God.”

Scripture Reference:

“7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.”- 1 John 4:7-12

My Message

Beloved, one of our greatest needs as human beings is to be loved. We all need love. We need to know that we are important to someone, that person truly cares about us, wants us, and accepts us unconditionally. The good news is that person is God! To know Him releases you from the damaging effects of feeling unloved.

Love is one of the warmest words, and I believe that “God is love” is one of the most uplifting, and reassuring truths known to mankind. Love is His nature. It is not merely a friendly attitude He shows us. It is the essence of His being. He is always going to act toward us in love because He cannot do otherwise. Love is the way He is.

Today’s message is to give us a few reasons why we are to appreciate the love of God.

The first point I would like to talk about is the fact that God’s Love is Unconditional. One of the most amazing things about God’s love is that it is extended to us when we do not deserve it and continues steadfast and strong even when we do not respond to it. In other words, His love is unconditional. That certainly is different from our love. We have a tendency to show more love to the people who obviously loves us and less love to others who do not. We express our love to people when they perform to our expectations and we withhold our love from them when they displeases us. God is not man. The best-loved verse in the Bible is found in John 3:16 and it says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” You realise that it says the whole world and not a part of it. Therefore, it means His love is for everyone in the world.

Secondly, God’s Love is Sacrificial. Beloved, not only does God’s love motivate Him to give, but it motivates Him to give when it costs Him dearly. God’s giving His Son involved more than merely allowing Him to leave Heaven’s glory and enter the earth. It meant allowing Him to die in our place and pay the great debt of our sins. God proved His love strongly by offering His Son as a sin sacrifice for our sake, “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him”- 1 John 4:9. That is a sacrificial love. It was not less of a sacrifice for God the Son than it was for God the Father. His willingness to offer Himself was the ultimate sacrificial love.

Lastly, God’s Love is Eternal. Beloved, this even has Scriptural reference. In the Book of Jeremiah 31:3, the Bible says, “The LORD appeared to him from afar, saying, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with loving-kindness.” This means that God knew us and loved us before He made us. Thus, He will love us till eternity, for, as Paul said, nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God. God’s love drives deep into eternity. We can never exhaust the love of God because He is an infinite God with an infinite love.

Beloved, as I conclude, I urge you to seek for God’s love and continuously remind yourself that you are the object of His endless love in Jesus Name, Amen!

Have a blessed day. God loves you!
