Flesh vs Spirit

By In

It’s not uncommon to hear sighs and frustrated comments from individuals eager to lavish in the works and wonders of God. They often complain that living a Godly life is too hard… “I don’t think i can do this” they say.

Well, if you were planning to quit and hopping to the nearest bar to knock yourself out with a full bottle of Spyritus Vodka (oh yes, i know some names) please think again. The perceptions you are having about the christian walk are misconstrued.

Being spiritual, just as the word implies, means being more spirit filled. Man is a spirit being: the body is the casing that holds the actual man on earth. When we decide to use our own strength and flesh to be “christian” we deem it impossible or simply too difficult but when we rely on God’s strength… now that’s a different story.

See, God’s strength is made more and more readily available as you and I, as human beings, become more spirit filled. Why? Well, God is a spirit, He would only relate to us in spirit as he prefers that we do same.

Romans 8:4 says for as many as are led by the spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Romans 8:16: the spirit Himself beareth witness with our spirits that we are children of God

Proverbs 20:27: the spirit of man is the candle of the lord searching all the inward parts of the belly

Our inability to cope with the christian walk is because we seek guidance and strength via our physical senses. Unfortunately, there is nowhere in the Bible which claims God guides us through our physical senses. The Bible does not say that the body of man is the candle of the Lord nor does it say the mind of man is… its says:

God will guide, enlighten and strengthen us through our spirits. When this happens, walking faithfully and diligently in Gods word becomes easy. Strengthen your spirit man.
