And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:9, 10 ESV)
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. (James 1:27 ESV)
God is good and will always be good. As children of God doing good or being good to others should also be part of our nature as well. We shouldn’t always wait until there is a charity event going on before we do good or told to do so at church before we do good but always we should seek to do good.
Doing good doesn’t mean you have to give financially, clothes or food. You can do good in so many ways such as service to the less privileged or to the community is also a form of doing good.
If the opportunity arises to do good and it is within our means to help, we should help! Even if it’s not within our means we should try to use our minimum input to help.
Doing good is a way of expressing our love for God’s people. Love is not only a noun but it is a verb and should be shown through our action. Therefore in doing good we show our love for humanity just as He showed His love for us through the offering of His Son Jesus Christ as a sin sacrifice on the cross for our sake.
Also, in doing good we should make sure we do it with the right heart and the right motives (without any hidden motives). With the right heart and motive that is when our goodness to help others pleases God.
In doing good we share God’s love and goodness with others. Therefore let us excel in doing Good. God bless.
