Although i am not a country music fan i came across a song some years back which, for some reason, managed to hold my attention for more than a few minutes. This song was Unanswered Prayers by Garth Brooks (If you haven’t heard it you can do that right now, check out: http://theraindancegroup.com/Muse/09%20Unanswered%20Prayers.mp3 )
Well, to summarize, the song talks about a young guy like you and I (sorry ladies) who was madly in love with a girl in high school. This fellow was very much into this “damsel” that he constantly prayed that somehow things will work out between the both of them. Unfortunately it did not.
Fast forward, a couple of years later this very same prayerful fellow got married to a different lady (and probably had a few children on the side). Coincidentally, they met his past girlfriend at an event and there he realized that he was blessed to have his wife… there was no way in heaven and on earth he would swap his wife for this high school flame.
NOW, the point of this story is not to encourage you to find a boyfriend or girlfriend. As a matter of fact, if you are in high school, i suggest picking your copy of “Integrated Science Gast” and getting some knowledge in you… (that is right after you are done reading this post ofcourse :D).
If anything the point Mr Brooks was trying to make is that some prayers of yours would not be answered and guess what… It’s alright!
It’s alright if you prayed for months but you weren’t picked for the position you applied for.
It’s alright if after crying your lungs out to God you did not get your first choice university.
It’s alright if you really wanted to marry that boyfriend or girlfriend, you prayed about it, but things didn’t work out.
Unless you can convince me that you can fast forward into the future and read minds, then i can be bold enough to say that you do not know what is best for you.
Before people start getting judgmental on me let me lay this out there: PRAY.
By all means pray, and pray without ceasing. Several things are actually meant to be, and through prayer situations can turn. You would never know what situations your prayer would change. But what do we know? We know that in all things God works together for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
I’ve learnt not to feel cast away or neglected when things do not go my way. Sometimes unanswered prayers are actually God’s answer to prayers…
