The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. (Ecclesiastes 12:13 ESV)
This verse actually helps to put life in the right perspective. As much as we want to enjoy life before we depart from this earth by having a good job, wonderful family and better financial stability to support others and ourselves, whilst pursuing all these beautiful and wonderful things life has to offer we shouldn’t forget our primary purpose on earth.
The ultimate and primary purpose of every man on earth is to worship God, whether we choose to accept it or not.
The author of Ecclesiastes – King Solomon – a man who enjoyed life to the fullest by having all that he wanted in life such as wives, children, money, power, wisdom and many more – comes to realise that none of all these possessions are important because he was created to do one thing – To Worship God.
God created us in his own image and likeness. Therefore in worshipping Him we mirror His image and likeness that He created us in.
We shouldn’t become consumed with everything we have achieved or we are trying to achieve in life lest we forget our primary purpose in life. If we miss our primary purpose on earth, we have missed everything.
We should live life and strive for achievement knowing that everything we do is to point back to God and bring Him glory, not us.
